Had to brighten things up around here.
There’s a friend of mine that sent me a link to a YouTube video last week.
I laughed so hard upon discovering it was all performed by him.
His name is Doug and he’s a dear friend of mine from way back when
(one of the best drummers I’ve ever had the pleasure to play with as well)
He could always get me going with his impersonation of an old Jewish man (ala Billy Crystal)
Watch the video.
I’m still laughing.
If he ever gets famous, remember, you saw it here.

Mongrain
I’ve been out straight with all sorts of things lately but I saw this video and had to post it.
As a musician, I am in awe of this guy.
Not sure if he came before ‘August Rush’ or if he was the actual inspiration for it.
Judging from the movie clips I’ve seen, the August Rush kid smiles way too much for my comfort.
Kinda freaky and ala the Shining, so very unlike Mongrain.
Check it out.
Crazy.
This is some tres cool shit.
Off to bed, folks.

Wooten
Nothing like starting the week off with a little bit of Victor Wooten.
You’ve never heard Norwegian Wood played like this.
And if you have, let me know what planet you were on . . .
Enjoy.

Zero for Zooz

Late night, Duke Street
the wet cobblestones shine and sparkle, bubble and squeak; and the dense fog rolls in
the clock tower chimes twelve
And it’s Zero for Zooz
Westminster.
Late night, Duke Street
the gauzy moon bleeds and drips, gaslights burn
and gossamer sheets of a hazy white sift through
the inimical clouds of night
the clock tower chimes three
And it’s Zero for Zooz
Westminster . . .
Sunrise, Duke Street
a languid sun cracks itself open and splashes some invisible and distant horizon with
salmon pinks, royal purples and bright orange crush
the clouds of night rest just beneath the hush of dawn
and the clock tower chimes in crystal silence
And it’s Zero for Zooz
and Westminster waits . . .

Heard it in a love song
Nothing like an intimate country love song to end the week.
These country guys can be so cerebral.
Check out Junior Brown’s pedal-steel guitar solo. Nice . . .

McDonald
Can’t say much about this except that McDonald sounds incredible.
Toonz for the weekend, y’all
God, I still love this guy.
And I love this song . . .

Hope
On Disabilities Awareness Day at Fenway Park, an autistic man was chosen to sing the National Anthem.
Halfway through he gets a case of the giggles.
Watch what happens. I still have goosebumps.
Thanks to Annie for the wonderful link.
Videos like this make me believe there’s still hope for the world.
Red Sox fans are alright . . .

It’s hard to kiss the lips at night (that chewed my ass out all day long).
A shout out to my good cigar-smoking bud, WM for the email.
You made Henry proud with this one, dude.
