Iced Calligraphy

Tomorrow morning I’m going to pick up a gift; a wonderful gift.
A while back I wrote something called “the Frozen Man” and I had no idea it would evoke the kind of response that it did.
I received numerous emails regarding its origin and inspiration and to be honest, it took me by surprise.
I’m not used to that kind of attention.
One email was from my dear friend Yvonne.
She is an incredibly creative spirit and does some incredible calligraphy and she asked if she could create a piece of art using “the Frozen Man” as the centerpiece.
I was thrilled and gave her my blessing knowing my words were in very capable hands.
When I checked my Gmail this morning I opened an email from her saying the piece was done. How cool is that?
To say I’m moved is a severe understatement.
Seeing an artistic impression of my work in this light has touched my very soul.
I called Yvonne after seeing it and told her I thought it was beautiful.
Being the humble soul that she is, she thanked me and said I was far too kind and that I was making much more out of it than I needed to.
I had to disagree. In a major way.
Check out the actual piece below.
If only my father could appreciate it.
Yvonne, a sincere thank you from my heart to yours . . .

*ps – Yvonne does calligraphy professionally.
I already know of one other piece of writing that I’d love to see done.
Maybe you have something as well.

  1. No money in the world can buy friends like that.
It’s gorgeous…… I love it when one art inspires another……. super cool.
So it’s a piece that has been written twice, with two types of creativity and love, merging perfectly. Speechless…….

Speechless pretty much described my reaction as well.
One art inspiring another is a pure brilliant thought.
Coming from you, SP, that’s no big surprise.
    Tanx,

  2. that Yvonne is super neat-o. I love her work as much as yours. The combination had to be brilliant.

Amazing the way it all came together, to be honest.

  3. What a wonderful, thoughtful thing to do for someone! but then this is what friends do is it not
I love it when people do these things for others….gives me some faith that there is indeed hope for mankind as a whole…i’m quite cynical at times on that particular subject…it’s nice to be proven wrong…
    well sometimes anyway!

If you could actually see the piece you’d be totally blown away.
    {much like I am, right now}

  4. You truly have a magnificent scope of friends in your extended internet family. It should serve you notice as to what kind of friend you have been to all of them.

You are a very honest and kindred soul that people enjoy being around – even reading your words seem to be coming from one friend to another.

    An awesome piece. Fantastic.

Oh, Grimm. If you could only see it. It’s amazing.

you’re welcome, from my heart to yours.

i had the same thought as S.P.: one art inspiring another.

it just HAD TO be done in calligraphy.
and in shades of blue, to be certain.
    and with snowflakes, no doubt…

i am well pleased that you like it. now…shhh! you’re embarrassing me with all the attention…

Sorry. More attention your way . . .

  10. Beautiful, wonderful, and all that!!!
Did she hand-write all that? It’s not printed with a printer?

Can’t do this kind of thing with a computer.
A piece of machinery has no soul no matter how cool the software is.
    She spent hours doing this.
And believe me, it looks that way.
